Malibu has more legitimate ocean-view wedding venues than any other LA neighborhood. Here are the 10 we've worked most over the past 8 years, with notes on what each morning actually looks like for the bridal party, including the things venue tours don't tell you.
1. Calamigos Ranch
Our most-worked Malibu venue. Three on-site getting-ready cottages; we recommend Birchwood for natural-light glam. The driveway is half a mile of dirt, so plan a golf-cart ride for kit. Strong cell signal. PCH closures don't affect Calamigos directly but can add 30 minutes from DTLA.
2. Saddlerock Ranch
Vineyard ceremonies with afternoon fog (especially May-July). The bridal cottage is small; we run two stations on the porch when it's clear. Cellular service is patchy past the gate.
3. Cielo Farms
Cliffside, looking south to Catalina. Direct sun from 11am-2pm, so we use sun-protective skin prep and airbrush as default. Bridal room has west-facing windows with stunning afternoon light.
4. Malibu Rocky Oaks
Helipad mountaintop ceremonies. Wind is the entire story. We airbrush and recommend the touch-up artist add-on as standard for any May-October wedding here. The bridal suite is in the main lodge and accommodates 4 chairs.
5. Adamson House
Spanish Revival on the lagoon at Malibu Pier. Tile vanity in the master bath fits one station; we expand to the dining table for parties of 4+. Strong tourist foot traffic on weekends.
6. Charmlee Wilderness Park
Permit-only at 1,200 feet elevation. Bring layers; it's 10°F cooler than the coastline. We recommend trial photographs taken on-site to calibrate the look for the elevation light.
7. Nobu Malibu
Beachfront restaurant with private-event ceremonies. Bridal getting-ready usually happens off-site at a Carbon Beach home; we travel between locations.
8. Carbon Beach private homes
Some of our favorite mornings. Beachfront residential ceremonies with sand-and-sunscreen makeup challenges. We plan a refresh 15 minutes before processional.
9. Latigo Canyon estates
Private property ceremonies with notoriously narrow driveways. We coordinate parking with your wedding planner the week of. Cellular is unreliable past the gate.
10. Cross Creek venue collection
Hotel and shopping center brides. Suites at the Malibu Country Mart neighborhood get perfect 8am east light. Easy load-in via the public lot.
